DJEMBE
The djembe is the main instrument for Ghanian music. The djembe is made out of wood, rope, and dried goatskin. There are three sounds that you can make on this instrument: bass, tone, and slap. In a typical performance, the leader, also known as the master drummer, plays different rhythms to lead the dancers to the next dance movement. There are two supporting djembe parts that play supporting rhythms to strengthen the master drummer.
KPANLOGO
Kpanlogo is a song and dance created for the youth of Ghana. The older generation wanted to get younger Ghanaians involved with music. They decided to create a new song and dance that is educational and energetic. Kpanlogo tells the story of farming in Ghana through the different dances and songs. This transitioned to a great dance for new musicians to learn. Ghanaians now teach this style to guests who are visiting Ghana and are interested in learning the music and dances of Ghana.
